Bones - Season 1 - 5.0 Stars

If you have Netflix I encourage you to add Bones to you list NOW! The story is loosely based upon the work and life of a real life forensic anthropologist and author, Kathy Reichs; who also serves as the shows Executive Producer. So you get the feel for reality in this show that sometimes ends up missing in your average CSI spin-off.

It is a fun comedic series full of dark mysteries and illuminated by interesting personalities centered around the lead character Dr. Temperence Brennan (Emily Deschanel)and her team, who all works for Smithsonian-eaque, "Jeffersonian Museum of Natural History" save their lone FBI contact, Agent Booth (David Boreanaz). Their purpose is to find the clues that the bones and in most cases the nearly rotted corpse will provide to unveil the dark plot of murder. The old pirate saying that dead men tell no tales is not true anymore.

The interchange between Brennan and Booth is hilarious at times and touch at others. They have a very interesting and enjoyable relationship that my wife and I really enjoy watching. The other characters are equally complex and enjoyable. If you enjoy good drama and mystery to boot with an dark humored yarn tying the package together you will love this series!

Scooby Doo - Where are you? Cartoons - 5 Stars

These oldies are classics in their own right and as such are a MUST SEE for all children young and old. They bring back great memories of Saturday mornings in front of the TV as a kid.

As a parent I am not worried about the content of these cartoons as I have to on many occasions with cartoons on some of the network and cable channels now! This fact alone makes these cartoon episodes great fun to watch with my little one. The laugh often through out at the antics of Scooby and Shaggy and the antics at the end of each mystery that lead to the capture of the mystery creature. I highly recommend these cartoons as good fun for you and your children!

Rent them from Netflix and enjoy!

The Sentinel - 4.5 Stars

This was another excellent Michael Douglas movie! While I didn't care for the subplot of the First Lady's affair. I really enjoyed the skillful suspense that progressed through out the film. I had the mole pegged mid movie. My wonderful wife had him pegged the second time we saw him. She is good that way. It is likely due to the emense number of novels she has read.

If you missed this in the theaters like we did, you should definately rent this one from Netflix! Kefer Sutherland was excellent in his role.

NEXT... 5 LARGE STARS!!!

We just finished watching NEXT starring Nicholas Cage. WOW! It was very enjoyable though the ending was a bit of a shock. I highly would recommend this film for anyone looking for an action adventure, sci-fi romance. Yeah that is a new genre of sorts that takes the old Romancing the Stone action comedy romance and drops the comedy and substitutes compelling drama. The cast was excellent and the characters they developed were phenomenal. I am going to go buy the book this was based upon to see how "loosely" it was based upon, "The Golden Man" by Phillip K. Dick.

Trouble Along the Way - 4 Stars until the NO STAR ENDING

After a long hiatus (I have been working a second job to get completely debt free) I am back with another movie review.

The move is called "Trouble Along The Way". Which in my opinion is an excellent title for a move that is in my estimation one of the the BEST and WORST movies I have seen in a long time. Why the dichotomy? Watch it and see if you don't agree with my observations. I am quite certain you will.

It is the BEST because it has John Wayne and a compelling story that has fun twists and turns along the way. It illustrates the plight of a father trying to raise his daughter and the damage that is done to their relationship by the meddling of a woman scorned (the ex-wife and egg doner [she isn't fit to be called a mother]) , a misguided crusaider do-gooder social worker with a chip on her shoulder, and an elderly Catholic Priest with a few demons of his own to face. The story is as I said very compelling and if I ever get around to learning how to write movie scripts I will rewrite it to correct the one SERIOUS FLAW of the movie, it has NO ENDING!!!!

That is what makes it the WORST movie I have seen in a long time, because it ends in a major cliff hanger and on a rather sad note. It leaves you hanging there with no closure what so ever! It left me annoyed for hours, because it could have been a great movie if there had been another 5 minutes added to the end of the move that showed you what happened 5 years later or some such fairytale sunset ending. BUT it didn't. If this movie were ever remade the the ending would need a serious revamping.
